The EMS lacrosse season is finally starting off, with the first official practice beginning on Tuesday, March 14. This year, there will be a new boys lacrosse coach along with Mr. Lansdale, and our very own Mr. Niemczyk. Mr. Niemczyk has had experience in coaching alongside Mr. Lansdale as they were both coaches for the boys soccer team in the fall and squash in the winter. Mr. Niemczyk admits to never having played lacrosse on any sort of competitive team, but his general sport sense and tactical knowledge can help the team come into a brand new, successful season. This year’s team is going to be mostly 7th and 8th graders but we can only hope that the 6th graders can join and offer their talents for the progression of the team.

On the contrary, the girls lacrosse team is made up of mostly 6th graders with a few new and old 7th and 8th graders. Mr. Escala will be coaching the girls’ team with Coach Loring. Of course, the abundance of 6th graders can turn out to begin the team’s favor, because as they develop their lacrosse skills, they will be at their peak ability in 8th grade to set the example for their younger teammates. The girls’ first game will be against Dwight-Englewood in a few weeks on April 18th. Both the girls and guys are very excited to start the season and dominate in the season.
