The debate over cats and dogs has been a controversy for years. We interviewed two different teachers. One who likes cats and one who likes dogs. We sent out a survey asking the students and some teachers if they were dog people or cat people.

There were 12 people (21.8%) who chose cat and 43 (78.2%) people people who chose dogs. According to the form, dogs are much more popular than cats. We interviewed a few people asking why they chose what they did.

Question #1: What quality do you like about dogs most and why?

Answer: “As a history teacher, I think about a long history of domesticated dogs as faithful companions, way back when they helped with hunting; they are cool and way nicer than cats” – Mr. Niemczyk

Answer: Mrs. Man is a dog person because she thinks that they look and seem friendlier

Answer: Mr. Messler says that he likes both a lot, but he’s more of a dog person because he thinks that they are more like companions.

Answer: Mrs. Lipman doesn’t like animals but if she was forced to choose, she would say dogs because they’re more playful and she likes petting them more. She doesn’t want to walk a dog but she doesn’t want to clean kitty litter.

Answer: Ms Ehatamm is a dog person. She thinks they are fun and playful.

Question #2: Even though you chose dogs, do you think there is a good quality in cats and if so, what is it?

Answer: “They are cute and some are playful, they can be useful if you have a rodent problem in your house.”

Answer: Mrs. Lipman thinks cats are clever and are survivors. She admires that but she thinks they don’t do anything.

Answer: Mr. Messler says that he thinks dogs are more playful but that he loves all of his cats and they are still cute.

Answer: Ms. Ehatamm thinks they are clever and have interesting personalities.

In conclusion, we found out that dogs are much more popular for good reason but cats are still great pets too.
